What is Therapy?

Therapy is not always easily described. It varies depending on the personalities of the therapist and the client and the particular problems brought to each session. Therapy calls for a very active effort on your part. In order for therapy to be successful, you will have to work on things we talk about both during our sessions and at home.

Therapy can have benefits and risks. Since therapy often involves discussing unpleasant aspects of our life, you may experience uncomfortable feelings like sadness, guilt, anger, frustration, loneliness and helplessness.

On the other hand, therapy has been shown to have benefits for people who go through it. Therapy can lead to better relationships, learning new ways to cope with or solve problems, developing of new skills, and significant reduction in feelings of distress, changing unwanted behaviours, and improved self-esteem.

Therapy is a process of personal exploration and may lead to major changes in your life perspectives and decisions.

Who I work with

I engage with a wide spectrum of clients, each with unique backgrounds, experiences, and struggles and I am proud to serve individuals from various age groups, cultural identities, and socio-economic backgrounds. I also have experience working with celebrities in the entertainment industry, specifically the Canadian music and film industry.

I value privacy and trust when working with all my clients, especially including high-profile individuals, offering professional, nonjudgmental support for mental health challenges. It is important for me to prioritize confidentiality, provide tailored, evidence-based therapy, and holistic approaches that can help clients navigate their issues. In addition, I work out of a space that is a private home office with parking that provides a safe and tranquil space away from the public eye, and I also do online therapy as well.

I aim to create a supportive and inclusive environment for clients from diverse cultural and social contexts.

Common examples

  • Helping individuals navigate their sense of self and navigate their thoughts to create more positive proactive thoughts that support their well being.

  • Adults trying to integrate a mind, body, spirit connection in a healthy and balanced way.

  • Individuals coping with life transitions and loss

My commitment to confidential, empathetic therapy remains consistent for all clients, aiming to destigmatize mental health care and support emotional wellness for everyone.

How it works

Our first few sessions will likely involve an evaluation of your needs either in person or online. By the end of the evaluation, I will be able to offer some ideas of what our work will include along with a treatment plan if you decide to continue with therapy.

It is important for you to evaluate this information along with your own opinions of whether you feel comfortable working with me. Therapy involves a large commitment of time, money and energy. If you have any questions about my procedures, we can discuss them whenever they arise.

My approach

I approach therapy from an integrative perspective using modalities such as Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based approaches, Compassion Focused Therapy, Ritual based Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Existential approach, and Spiritual Integrated.

Techniques can include active listening, homework, and psycho educational discussion.

I tend to favour a person centred psychotherapeutic approach because I recognize that each person is an individual with unique experiences, and must be treated as so to meet their needs and empower them.

My commitment to you

I hold unconditional positive regard and acceptance for all clients and take a non-judgmental position, and communicate through empathic understanding.

I consider the client’s perspective and needs as the foundation for therapy and I am committed to providing what they need.

I believe that clients have the capacity and resilience to resolve their own problems and make their own decisions.

However, from time to time all of us need assistance, support and direction and as such I will work with you to establish goals for your therapy.

About the space

I value creating a comforting and safe environment for my clients. The therapy space is designed to provide a welcoming and peaceful atmosphere where individuals can feel at ease when seeking support and guidance. The decor is carefully chosen to promote a sense of tranquility and solace, with soft lighting, comfortable seating, and soothing colours to help clients feel relaxed and secure during their sessions. This environment is crucial in establishing a strong therapeutic alliance and facilitating open communication.

I understand the vulnerability that comes with seeking psychotherapy, and my goal is to create a space where individuals feel validated, heard, and understood. Clients can rest assured that they will be met with compassion and respect as they embark on their personal journey towards healing and growth.
